So what’s this book about? Can it help me?
At first glance this book seems like it is just simple psychological tips and tricks that will help you lose weight, but it is fact much much deeper than that.
This book really dives in, more than just some basic simple little tips that will help you……. it really goes in to how the mind works and Shows multiple studies to prove that these can work for you.
There’s nothing really simple about the book at all in fact it brings on many different angles so that there are many many more chances for you to convince yourself on a daily basis to lose weight.
To give you an idea there are tips that basically come from every angle of warped mental thinking. This Book gives you the ability to combat any thoughts you have that are working NEGATIVE against you and turn it into a POSITIVE.
This book will literally reframe your mind. And……in my opinion make it healthy again. You’re SUPPOSED to have control over your own mind. This book gives you back that control.
Also, if this is what you’re looking for……..definitely check out my links above for some other similar psychological dieting help.
Does it work?
Everybody is different, and because of this…..I’d have to say that this is the most likely “diet” to work for anyone. Since it uses many different psychological tricks rather than just one. Why is that good? Well……Everyone is different…..so if one method doesn’t work for you…another one will. Just like with anything, there are more ways to solve a problem than just one. What might work for me may not work for you and vice versa.
Is it really backed by research?
Well, since it’s written by a world renowned psychotherapist AND a world class health writer……..you can pretty much assume that it is. But, feel free to look up their credentials online they have a lot.
Don’t feel like doing that? Inside the book plenty of examples are given with well backed research from reputable sources.
Why this book drastically changed my life –
First I should say this…
This book is honestly different from EVERY other book I’ve read on dieting psychology.
With SO MANY different tips that are easy to implement, it’s literally as easy as pulling out a tip and then implementing it when you need to.
What’s weird, is sometimes a certain tip will hold me off for awhile……then it’ll stop working. So I’ll switch to a different one and then bam I’m good.
I think the reason for this…
Is honestly that sometimes we’re having different mental battles.
Eating because you’re bored needs to be fought different mentally than eating because you’re sad.
Having a different tactic for each really really helps.
Because of these tactics it has honestly become SO EASY for me to lose weight now because I KNOW that when I have a craving I’ll have something to combat it mentally.
Eating right has become as simple as this. I feel craving? I use a tactic. If that tactic doesn’t work switch it up. So easy.
This has honestly changed everything for me. It’s TOUGH when you don’t know how to talk yourself down from a hard craving. But when you do everything becomes easy.
Another huge thing for me was understanding our transformational stages and THAT WE ARE DESTINED TO FAIL.
That’s right. You will fail.
The book explains that in order for REAL change to happen, almost everyone out there will go through four stages where they go from thinking about it to doing it. Then, they will eventually fall off the wagon. This cycle will repeat itself until there is true change. That’s just how change works. KNOWING that I will fail has helped me tremendously because I don’t feel as bad when it happens. I understand that it happened, it’s okay that it’s just part of the process……and I hop back onboard.
Also, a huge change was the goal setting process. I had already learned about this before reading the book, but if you haven’t read about it before then you’ll definitely need to do it.
Who this book is NOT for.
This book is really not a good book for someone who is simply interested in a diet or what I like to call A get thin quick plan. A lot of people out there, what they want is a diet they can stick with not too long and then will have great results personally I don’t think these diets make any sense to be a part of but a lot of people are interested in them. This book is more for the type of person who is interested in making an actual real life change for the better forever. They simply need some help to guide them through the mental process. Of course you are still going to need a diet plan along with this book, Think of this book as your mental strategy guide I’m not saying there isn’t diet information in there. Because they’re technically is a small amount. It’s just not enough for most people. I should say this however I do believe everyone out there should get this book. Because I truly believe this book can help almost anyone. It’s just that some people aren’t truly interested in changing their lives forever they just want the get “Thin quick plan.”
The major problem with this book.
This sort of has to do with the last section. I honestly think this book should go along with more actual dieting information. There’s a lot of psychology (obviously), but that’s only half the battle. You need to figure out a diet that works for you to.
Here’s some great books to check out:
Conclusion:
This book has great information for those of us that are really struggling mentally with weight loss. Simple, easy to understand information that can be applied really really fast. It’s all extremely fascinating as well. I never realized my brain worked the way it did until reading this book. It also highlights a lot about ourselves and our weaknesses. I’d talk more about this, but It would take awhile so I’ll just let you read the book. Now, to move on to a very important point…..
This book is not just hogwash pseudo-science,
all of it is backed up with case studies and written by a psychotherapist and a well known health writer. People that have dedicated a very large portion of their lives to this craft.
Because of this, you can absolutely trust all the information inside….and if you do, you’ll have a serious transformation in the way you think. This book will make a positive impact on you no matter what.
